The Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin charges tuition fees (module fees) for all coursework in the postgraduate study programmes "Intenational Health"

Tuition Fees are calculated per ECTS credit point and are different for the MScIH, DIPH and DTMPH. The most recent fee scale applies (AMB 291, 25 October 2022) to all students who began their studies in 2023 or thereafter. Tuition fees apply to all students and are the same for international and home students (EU and Germany). Total tuition for the MScIH is €12.900.

Additionally, an enrollment fee per semester applies to students enrolled in the postgraduate MSc International Health. The enrollment fees are currently about €360 per semester

If you require a visa, the German embassy may require the deposit of about €12.000 into a blocked account with a German bank to guarantee your ability to cover the cost of living in Germany.

The MScIH is able to host 3 DAAD EPOS scholars. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any other scholarships, stipends or financial support to students admitted into the program. MScIH students are required to find and apply for grants or stipends individually and independently. 

The MScIH is able to host 3 DAAD EPOS scholars per academic year. 

The DAAD EPOS program offers individual DAAD scholarships to participants from developing countries so that they may study development-related postgraduate courses at selected universities in Germany. 

Applications for the DAAD EPOS scholarships must follow the guidelines provided on the DAAD website  and are submitted to the MSc International Health via Application DAAD EPOS Scholarship

Total MScIH Tuition: €12.900

Mode of payment: Students admitted to the MScIH will recieve an invoice for the total tuition of €12.900 at the time of enrollment. Tuition is payable in four installments of €3.225 in each of the four semesters of the program. Registration fees must be transfered to a differenent account. Registration fee payment details are provided by email each semester (i.e. twice annually) during the respective (re-)registration periods. 

Tuition Fees in Detail:

Core Course: €6.000. The fee per ECTS credit point for the Core Course offered by the MScIH at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is €300. At 20 ECTS credit points, the tuition fee for the Core Course amounts to €6.000. There may be additional costs for statistical software licenses of 40,- to 150,- Euro.

Advanced Modules: €3.500 minimum payment at MScIH Charité. The fee per ECTS credit point for advanced modules offered by the MScIH at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is €350. For example: A 1-week Advanced Module yielding 2 ECTS credit points requires a tuition fee of €700. A 2-week module yielding 3 ECTS credit points requires a tuition fee of €1.050. 

  • Students must take a minimum of 10 ECTS in advanced modules from the MScIH at Charité.
  • Please note that the fees per ECTS credit point for advanced modules at other tropEd institutions differ! Please consult the tropEd webpage of the respective module for the exact fee or contact the respective tropEd institution directly.

Relevant Professional Experience: €400. The fee per ECTS credit point for the Relevant Professional Experience (RPE) offered by the MScIH at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is €20. At 20 ECTS credit points, the tuition fee for RPE is €400.

Master Thesis: €3.000. The fee per ECTS credit point for the Master Thesis offered by the MScIH at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is €100. At 30 ECTS credit points, the tuition fee for the Master Thesis is €3.000.

  • Depending on the topic you chose to pursue in your Master Thesis, additional costs may be incurred (e.g. for fieldwork, travel, accommodation, software license, ethical clearance, research assistance, printing, translation, laboratory materials etc.). Students are responsible for all costs associated with their Master Thesis. 

Advanced Critical Literature Review: €1.500. The fee per ECTS credit point for the Advanced Critical Literature Review offered by the MScIH at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is €100. At 15 ECTS credit points the tuition fee for the Advanced Critical Literature Review is €1.500. This module is only available for MScIH students who enter the program with less than 210 ECTS or equivalent (Bachelor with 3,5 years) from their previous studies. 

Registration fees: c.a €360 per semester. MScIH students are registered as students of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and must pay a registration fee of presently about 100,- to 320,- Euro (excluding/including the student ticket for the Berlin Public Transport Company, BVG) per semester (two times per year). 

Examination fees: €0. At Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin there are no examination fees.

The total tuition fees for DTMPH-only students amount to 9.687,50 Euro. There may be additional costs for statistical software licenses of 40,- to 150,- Euro.

Tuition fees in detail:

The cost per ECTS credit point for the Core Course is 375,- Euro. At 20 ECTS credit points, the tuition fee for the Core Course amounts to 7.500,- Euro. There may be additional costs for statistical software licenses of 40,- to 150,- Euro.

The cost per ECTS credit point for the required Advanced Modules is 437,50 Euro. The cost for the required courses (Parasitology in International Health [1.5 ECTS credit points], Clinical Management of Tropical Diseases [3 ECTS credit points] and Consultation of Business Travelers [0.5 ECTS credit points]) yielding 5 ECTS credit points is 2.187,50 Euro.

Registration fees:

DTMPH-only students are not registered as students of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and do not have to pay a registration fee.

MScIH students who wish to obtain the DTMPH in addition to the MScIH must pay the higher DTMPH price for the Core Course and the required Advanced Modules.

At Charité – Universitätsmedizin, there are no examination fees.

Total cost (based on the most recent scale of fees: AMB 291, 25.10.2022):

The total tuition fees for DIPH-only students amount to 10.343,75 Euro. There may be additional costs for statistical software licenses of 40 to 150 Euro.

Tuition fees in detail:

The cost per ECTS credit point for the Core Course is 375,- Euro. At 20 ECTS credit points, the tuition fee for the Core Course amounts to 7.500,- Euro. There may be additional costs for statistical software licenses of 40 to 150 Euro.

The cost per ECTS credit point for the required Advanced Modules is 437,50 Euro. The cost for the required courses (Designing, Managing and Evaluating Projects for Improving Health [3.5 ECTS credit points] and Health Economics and Economic Analyses [3 ECTS credit points]) yielding 6.5 ECTS credit points is 2.843,75 Euro.

Registration fees:

DIPH-only students are not registered as students of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and do not have to pay a registration fee.

MScIH students who wish to obtain the DIPH in addition to the MScIH must pay the higher DIPH price for the Core Course and the required Advanced Modules.

At Charité – Universitätsmedizin, there are no examination fees.

Tuition fees (based on the most recent scale of fees: AMB 291, 25.10.2022):

For participants who are admitted to the Core Course as a guest, (i.e. participants who are not applying the Core Course towards an MScIH degree and who wish to only receive a short course certificate) the fee per ECTS credit point is 375,- Euro. At 20 ECTS credit points, the tuition fee for the Core Course amounts to 7.500,- Euro. 

For participants who are admitted to Advanced Modules as guest, (i.e. participants who are not applying the Advanced Modules towards an MScIH degree and who wish to only receive a short course certificate) the fee per ECTS credit point for the Advanced Modules is 437,50 Euro. For example: A 1-week Advanced Module yielding 2 ECTS credit points costs 875,- Euro, a 2-week module yielding 3 ECTS 1.312,50 Euro, and a 3-week module yielding 4.5 ECTS credit points 1.968,75 Euro. As there may be additional cost, please consult the webpage of the respective Advanced Module for the exact fee.

Registration fees:

Guest students are not registered as students of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and do not have to pay a registration fee.

At Charité – Universitätsmedizin, there are no examination fees.
