Tuition Fees

Tuition Fees and Financial Matters Tuition Fees are calculated per ECTS point and vary according to the elected study programme. See below for a detailed statement on each of the programmes.

Note: in some countries, the German embassy will require the deposit of a certain amount (expect 8,000+, ask at the embassy for the exact amount) in a blocked account with a German bank as guarantee for the living costs in Germany.

Master of Science in International Health

Tuition Fees in Detail:

The cost for the Core Course currently amounts to 175€ per ECTS point. In 2019, the cost per ECTS will most probably be 225€. At 20 ECTS credit points, the tuition fee currently amounts to 3,500€; from 2019 on, 4500€. There may be additional costs amounting to 40-150€ for statistical software licenses.

For the upcoming period of Advanced Modules [2019], each ECTS credit point is 250€. For the following period of Advanced Modules [from 2020 onwards], the cost per ECTS will most probably be 275€.

For example: in 2019, a one-week Advanced Module yielding 2 ECTS credits costs 500€, two-week advanced modules yielding 3 ECTS credits cost 750€, and three-week advanced modules yielding 4.5 ECTS credits cost 1125€.

In 2020, a one-week Advanced Modules yielding 2 ECTS credits costs 550€, two-week advanced modules yielding 3 ECTS credits cost 825€, and three-week advanced modules yielding 4.5 ECTS credits cost 1237,50€.

For the Additional Critical Literature Review and the Master's Thesis, one ECTS point costs 75€. The Master's Thesis (20 ECTS) therefore amounts to 1500€, an Advanced Critical Literature Review (15 ECTS) to 1125€.

Costs for Advanced Modules at other tropEd institutions vary according to the type of course, duration, and hosting institution.

Students currently completing the Core Course, their Advanced Modules and Master's Thesis at Charité can therefore expect a total cost of 10,000€. Students entering the program in 2019 can expect a total cost of 11,500€.

Registration and examination fees:

MScIH students are registered as students with Charité—Universitätsmedizin Berlin and must pay a registration fee of presently about 100-300€ per semester (i.e. twice annually). DAAD scholarship holders pay a reduced fee.

At Charité, there are no examination fees.

Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Public Health

Total cost:

The total tuition fees for DTMPH-only students amount to 6,062.50 Euro. From winter semester 2019/2020 onwards the total tuition fees will most probably amount to ca. 7,468.75 Euro.

Tuition fees in detail:

The cost for the Core Course amounts to 218.75 Euro per ECTS point. In 2019 the cost per ECTS will most probably be 281.25 Euro. At 20 ECTS credit points, the tuition fee amounts to 4,375 Euro. From 2019 on: 5625 Euro. There may be additional costs amounting to 40-150 € for statistical software licenses.

For DTMPH students the fee for the required relevant advanced modules and supplements amounts to 312.50 Euro per ECTS credit point. In 2020, the cost per ECTS will probably be 343.75 Euro per ECTS credit point.

Registration and examination fees:

DTMPH-only students are not registered with Charité and do not have to pay a registration fee to Charité.

MScIH students who wish to obtain the DTMPH in addition to the MScIH must pay the (higher) DTMPH price for the Core Course and the required Advanced Modules.

There are no examination fees.

Diploma in International Public Health

Total cost:

The total tuition fees for DIPH-only students amount to 6,125 Euro. From winter semester 2019/2020 onwards the total tuition fees will most probably amount to ca. 7,537.50 Euro.

The cost for the Core Course amounts to 218.75 Euro per ECTS point. In 2019 the cost per ECTS will most probably be 281.25 Euro. At 20 ECTS credit points, the tuition fee amounts to 4,375 Euro. From 2019 on: 5625 Euro. There may be additional costs amounting to 40-150 Euro for statistical software licenses.

For DIPH students the fee for relevant advanced modules amounts to 312.50 Euro per ECTS credit point. In 2020, the cost per ECTS will probably be 343.75 Euro per ECTS credit point.

Registration and examination fees:

DIPH-only students are not registered with Charité and do not have to pay a registration fee to Charité.

MScIH students who wish to obtain the DIPH in addition to the MScIH must pay the (higher) DIPH price for the Core Course and the required Advanced Modules.

There are no examination fees.

Short Course Certificates

Tuition fees:

For SCC students the fee for the core course amounts to 262.50 Euro per ECTS credit point. In 2019 the cost per ECTS will most probably be 337.50 Euro. Given that the core course yields 20 ECTS credit points the tuition fee amounts to 5,250 Euro. From 2019 on: 6750 Euro. There may be additional costs amounting to 40-150 Euro for statistical software licenses.

For SCC students the fee for advanced modules and supplements amounts to 375 Euro per ECTS credit point. In 2020, the cost per ECTS will probably be 412.50 Euro per ECTS credit point.

Registration and examination fees:

SCC students are not registered with Charité and do not have to pay a registration fee to Charité.

There are no examination fees.
